When those we love leave this world, our hearts remain tied to them. We find ourselves wishing, even for a moment, that they could return so we might finish a conversation left incomplete or speak the words that time never allowed us to say.

We left them in the middle of ordinary days and unfinished conversations, distracted by matters we once believed were important. Only later do we realize how insignificant those things were compared to the precious moments we shared with them.

We long to see them once more, if only at the doorway of our dreams—to steal a brief conversation, receive a smile capable of brightening an entire day, or hear a prayer they used to make for us, one we scarcely noticed while they were still among us.

It is often when life grows heavy and our eyes fill with tears that we remember those prayers. We remember the ones who raised their hands to God on our behalf, asking for nothing except our protection, our strength, and our well-being.

Though they have departed from our sight, they remain alive within our hearts, our memories, and our dreams. We pray that God surrounds them with His infinite mercy, grants them a home better than the one they left behind, and reunites us with them in the eternal gardens of
radise.
