Sometimes, a stranger appears in a dream and feels strangely familiar.
We may speak to them easily, trust them without knowing why, or feel sad when they leave. Then we wake up and realise that we have never met them.
Still, the feeling remains.
There is something strange about feeling close to a face we cannot place.
Perhaps familiarity is not always about knowing a person.
Sometimes, it comes from what they make us feel.
A stranger in a dream may bring a sense of safety, understanding, or comfort. The face may be unfamiliar, yet the feeling behind it may be something we have known for a long time.
For this reason, the person may not always be the most important part of the dream.
Instead, it may be worth asking:
How did I feel when I was with them?
We often remember feelings long after we forget details. The same can happen in dreams. A face disappears, a name is forgotten, and the story becomes unclear. However, the feeling stays.
That may be why we sometimes wake up missing someone who does not exist in our waking life.
Perhaps we are not missing the person at all.
Maybe we are missing the feeling of being understood, accepted, or simply not being alone.
After all, what we look for in people is not always their face.
Sometimes, it is the way they make us feel.
